About the Event
The West Antelope Valley Education Foundation and High Desert Runners are hosting free mile races as part of the Empowering Youth Festival at Joe Walker Middle School.
The event, open to all ages, will be held on the track, with races starting at 8 a.m. and noon. While there are no race shirts, participants will receive ribbons, and top finishers in each age group will earn placement ribbons for first through third place.
The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features a variety of family-friendly activities. Vendors and demonstrators are still being finalized, but previous participants included robotics teams from the Antelope Valley High School District, free bike repair by Lancaster Sunrise Rotary and Lakay’s Cycling Club, and activities provided by Lancaster and Palmdale city parks and recreation departments.
