"R" Ranch - Leona Valley
- November 10, 2006

A small group of High Desert Runners enjoyed a special running treat last Nov. 10, when we held a fun run on the R-Ranch west of Leona Valley. The owner, Roger Reitano, had granted permission for Quartz Hill High School to host the Golden League cross-country finals on his property Nov. 1, even clearing some new trails to allow for a full three-mile course on his rolling crop and pasture land, and graciously consented to allow the HDR to have a fun run on his ranch 10 days later.

The 11 HDRs who showed up leisurely toured the new course on a brisk Veterans' Day morning, and then were regaled for 90 minutes by Roger with stories of his life experiences. We left his picturesque rural ranch a bit chilled, but inspired and challenged. It was well worth the effort to show up.

HDR Glenn Hattori has preserved a photographic record of the event for us to share with you via our web site photo gallery. Enjoy!

The rustic rural setting of the R-Ranch provided the perfect backdrop as 11 HDRs set out across the pasture on a three-mile fun run.

Rolling hills and clear blue skies provided an inspiring setting for Glenn Hattori and the others traversing the R-Ranch course.

R-Ranch owner and host Roger Reitano joined the motley HDRs for a post-run group photo.
